Online therapy

I offer online therapy as part of my practice for people who feel it is a good fit for them and who want the same level of psychological and emotional engagement as in-person therapy.

How online therapy works

My way of working online closely mirrors how I work in-person. We begin with an initial consultation, agree areas of focus for the therapy, and then meet for weekly 50-minute sessions held at the same time each week. The main difference is that sessions take place via secure video rather than in a consulting room.

Although online therapy inevitably feels different from being in the same physical space, many clients have commented on how effective it feels for them. Through my clinical experience of working online, I have found that while it is different in some respects from in-person therapy, it can offer the same depth and continuity of therapeutic work.

 

A practical consideration is that you will need a private, quiet space where you are unlikely to be overheard, along with a reliable internet connection.

Why some people choose online therapy

People choose online therapy for different reasons. For some, it offers practical flexibility, making it easier to commit to regular sessions alongside work, caring responsibilities, or health considerations. For others, it allows access to psychotherapy when they live outside the areas where I offer face-to-face work.

Some people find that speaking from a familiar environment helps them feel more at ease, while others value the continuity that online therapy can provide during periods of transition or uncertainty.
